Perry Avenue Bridge, Norwalk, CT
Challenge
One of the key challenges was working over an active river and maintaining containment integrity in a high-traffic area. Our team had to coordinate work hours and containment setup precisely to avoid environmental risk and ensure public safety—without extending the project schedule. Despite these constraints, we delivered on time with zero incidents and full client satisfaction.
Solution
A local municipality contacted us to repair delaminated coating on a bridge railing system over a small river. Our team mobilized quickly with minimal disruption to nearby residents, traffic, and pedestrians. We installed a Type 2 containment system to protect the surrounding environment and followed SSPC-SP2 and SP3 surface preparation standards to properly profile the railing. The coating system included Sherwin-Williams Macro Epoxy 646 as both the primer and intermediate coat, followed by two topcoats of Acrylon 100 applied to all railing components for long-term protection and a durable finish.
